My name is Candace Ivey. I was born in Bluefield, WV, and raised in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. I permanently moved to North Carolina during my junior year of high school. I have always been into sports since the young age of 5. I began playing soccer and doing cheer. During my freshman year of high school, I moved into cross country to stay in shape during the off-season. Upon my sixth-grade year of school, I entered ExtremeX gymnastics. It was then I gained tumbling experience. Upon graduation from high school, I continued to help coach my daughter’s group for 2 years with ExtremeX. Afterward, I was engaged in clogging for over 6 years.
I am a wife, a mother to two, and a stepmother of 6 (2 of whom still live at home). My youngest has a disability which gives me a whole different aspect of life. As a cheer coach, I believe that no child is below succession. No matter what obstacle stands in the way, success is always achievable no matter what the situation is in some shape, form, or fashion. If respect, self-esteem, and confidence are instilled, I believe success is very easy to obtain. It not only helps the individual but also the individuals around them. I believe in building each other up instead of tearing each other apart. It is my honor to be a light in their lives and I hope to be a key to success in their future.
